After landing in Ireland early on Saturday morning, President Donald Trump will meet with the nation's leaders and then head to a tournament at one of his golf courses.

Ireland's Minister of Finance Simon Harris, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister of Defense Helen McEntee, US Ambassador to Ireland Edward Walsh and his wife Lynn, Irish Ambassador to the US Geraldine Byrne Nason, and Chief of Protocol Patricia O'Brien welcomed Trump on the tarmac while he wore a red tie.

Trump last traveled to Ireland as president in June 2019, during his first term.

A White House official told CNN that Trump will meet bilaterally with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and address business leaders at the home of US Ambassador to Ireland Edward Walsh.

According to the official, the president's discussions with Irish political leaders would cover topics such as international issues of common interest, business prospects for US industry, and bilateral economic cooperation.

Trump will travel west on Sunday to attend the Irish Open at his golf course in Doonbeg, although he has meetings in Dublin on Saturday.

When an Irish reporter questioned Martin about her remarks regarding "violations of international law" in the Middle East, Trump referred to Connolly as "he" when hosting Martin in the Oval Office on St. Patrick's Day in March.

"Look, all I can say is that he's lucky I exist," Trump remarked. "Everyone in the world should be extremely grateful if you're going to give nuclear weapons to nations that are sick and insane, and they are insane."
